Deep in Our Refrigerator

The refrigerator is not a place where dust should collect. However cleaning out the fridge today I found some in the back on the bottom where no one ever goes, dust, and also some hair... Anyway, it reminded me of a poem I read a while ago...

Deep in Our Refrigerator

by Jack Prelutsky

Deep in our refrigerator,
there's a special place
for food that's been around awhile . . .
we keep it, just in case.
“It's probably too old to eat,”
my mother likes to say.
“But I don't think it's old enough
for me to throw away.”

It stays there for a month or more
to ripen in the cold,
and soon we notice fuzzy clumps
of multicolored mold.
The clumps are larger every day,
we notice this as well,
but mostly what we notice
is a certain special smell.

When finally it all becomes
a nasty mass of slime,
my mother takes it out, and says,
“Apparently, it's time.”
She dumps it in the garbage can,
though not without regret,
then fills the space with other food
that's not so ancient yet

Christmas presents...

Well the home show is finally over. Actually it's been over for over a week now. We baked a million cookies. We've finally been able to enjoy some Christmas festivities of our own. We're going to bake a million more cookies too. I love Christmas cookies.
We got our tree too. And you have to admit it's pretty awesome...

That's a terrible picture. You're going to have to trust me on this one. It's the best tree.

Here are the clothes pin dolls I've been working on for the past four days. Christmas presents for my littlest sister...

I'm so excited!

At some point this winter there will come a time when I will have nothing to do. A week maybe two. Where I well have the time to blog every day and absolutely nothing to blog about. It will probably occur in the weeks following the Holidays. Aaah, the long weeks of winter when the world seems to go into hibernation. I can't wait.
Any ways...want to see what I've been doing all week?

I've been making hats. Yup that's it. All week. For the craft show yesterday.

Goodbye...

Today I am saying goodbye to my teenagerness, (no that's not really a word.) Farewell to nineteen. Today is my last day as a teenager. And such a sad sad day it is. I loved being a teenager, too bad it's all over for me. If I could change things, a bit, I would stay nineteen just another year. I'm sure I'll have gray hair and wrinkles when I wake up tomorrow.
A word of wisdom to all you teenagers in the world who have the good sense to still be a teenager, enjoy it while you can. Stay a teenager as long as you can.

Anyway I don't have enough time to wallow. I have to go get ready for the craft show tomorrow. :P Happy birthday me.
